HRW slams Bush's award of freedom medal to Colombia's Uribe
Human Rights Watch on Wednesday heaped scorn on a move by President George W. Bush to bestow the highest US civilian honor to Colombian leader Alvaro Uribe.
"My understanding is that the Medal of Freedom was given because of Uribe's promotion of democracy, freedom and human rights," said Kenneth Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch (HRW) at a Washington press conference.
"Personally, I have a hard time figuring out who is more audacious, President Bush for giving the human rights award, or President Uribe for receiving it."
Roth added: "Neither Bush nor Uribe has anything to be proud about in the human rights arena.
Behind the Balfour Declaration: Britain's Great War Pledge To Lord Rothschild
The Balfour Declaration may he the most extraordinary document produced by any Government in world history. It took the form of a letter from the Government of His Britannic Majesty King George the Fifth, the Government of the largest empire the world has even known, on which -- once upon a time -- the sun never set; a letter to an international financier of the banking house of Rothschild who had been made a peer of the realm.
Arthur Koestler wrote that in the letter "one nation solemnly promised to a second nation the country of a third." More than that, the country was still part of the Empire of a fourth, namely Turkey.

UFOs spotted 'by hundreds' at wind turbine site
UFOs have allegedly been seen by hundreds of witnesses close to the wind turbine that many suspect was hit by an alien spaceship.
Residents claimed to have seen bright flashing spheres in the skies near Louth, Lincolnshire, where the 290ft turbine was mangled in a mystery collision.
Ministry of Defence insiders have reportedly said the UFOs could be unmanned stealth bombers on test flights.
The black delta-wing craft, called Taranis, is understood to have been making test runs on the coastal bombing ranges at Donna Nook and North Coates, which are right next to the site of the wrecked wind turbine.
