President Donald Trump abruptly ended a long-planned summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un on Thursday, acknowledging the two leaders did not reach an agreement that accomplished the U.S. goal of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.

"Sometimes you have to walk," Trump told a news conference in Hanoi that was moved up by several hours and took place in the middle of the night in the United States.

No Deal on Nukes

Trump began his second summit with Kim with an eye toward "denuclearization," but one major sticking point between the two sides centered on what that term means. The White House had initially scheduled what it called a "signing ceremony" for Thursday, but Trump indicated Kim had not met U.S. expectations for a commitment to dismantling his nuclear program. A seven-year-old girl who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border with her father last week died after being taken into the custody of the U.S. Border Patrol, federal immigration authorities confirmed Thursday.

An official from Guatemala's foreign ministry identified the girl as Jackeline Caal. The official, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to share information, also identified the girl's 29-year-old father as Nery Caal.

The foreign ministry said Friday that the girl and her father were from an area in northern Guatemala called Raxruha in Alta Verapaz department.

John Kelly and John Bolton get into profanity laced dispute

White House chief of staff John Kelly and national security adviser John Bolton got into a heated, profanity-laced shouting match outside the Oval Office on Thursday, according to multiple reports.

CNN reported that the two men clashed over immigration policy in the wake of a government report that found a record number of migrant families illegally crossed the U.S. border in September.

Bloomberg reported that the incident led some White House aides to wonder whether one of the senior officials might immediately resign in anger.

O'Rourke raises record-smashing $38 million in third quarter

Democratic Rep. Beto O'Rourke raised a record $38.1 million in the third quarter for his underdog campaign to defeat Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in Texas.

O'Rourke's massive haul easily surpassed the previous single-quarter record, set by Republican Rick Lazio in 2000, when he raised about $22 million in one quarter for his losing New York Senate bid against Hillary Clinton, who was then the first lady.

Documents show $10M moved from FEMA to ICE

The Trump administration has taken about $10 million away from the Federal Emergency Management Administration and given it to immigration authorities, documents of the plan show.

Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., told MSBNC Tuesday a "Transfer and Reallocation" budget document he obtained outlines the reallocation of funds.

Merkley said the 39-page plan indicates the Department of Homeland Security requested $9.8 million from FEMA accounts. The documents said the money, about nine-tenths of one percent of FEMA's annual budget, would be transferred from FEMA's "Preparedness and Protection" and "Response and Recovery" undertakings to pay for detention beds and ICE's Transportation and Removal Program.

North Korea halts nuclear and missile tests ahead of planned Trump summit

North Korea has said it will end its tests of nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missiles, and shut down its nuclear test site, in a dramatic development ahead of a much-anticipated meeting between its leader, Kim Jong-un, and Donald Trump.

The suspensions went into immediate effect on Saturday, according to state-run KCNA news agency.

The US president greeted the news in a tweet. “This is very good news for North Korea and the World – big progress!” Trump wrote.

The news comes less than a week before Kim meets the South Korean president, Moon Jae-in, for a summit in the demilitarized zone that divides the peninsula.
