This is my political home’: how 30 ceasefire delegates changed the Democratic convention

Anti war groups at conventionAsma Mohammed organized the uncommitted movement in Minnesota because she “was seeing children who look like my son be massacred”.

June Rose, an uncommitted delegate from Rhode Island, joined the cause because they were raised as an orthodox Jew, kept away from Palestinians and taught that the occupation of Palestine was for their safety. Then Rose went to Palestine. “And I realized that not one single child needs to die in order to keep me safe,” they said.

Maryland Cop Convicted Of Throwing Smoke Bomb At Capitol Police On Jan. 6

Justin Lee convicted

A Maryland police officer was found guilty Friday of civil disorder, assaulting police and other charges after he threw a smoke bomb at officers during the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol attack.

Justin Lee, 26, took a smoke bomb from another rioter, pulled the pin, and threw it in the direction of Capitol police stationed in a tunnel that connects to the Capitol.

U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden heard two days of trial testimony before finding Lee guilty of two felonies and three misdemeanors. During his testimony, Lee told McFadden he was “trying to make a statement” about police brutality when he threw the smoke bomb.

McFadden said he believed Lee went to the Capitol that day to disrupt Congress’ certification of President Joe Biden’s victory over Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election.

Cori Bush becomes second 'Squad' member to lose 2024 primary as Democrats split over Israel

Cori Bush loses primaryRep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., suffered a bruising defeat in her St. Louis district on Tuesday night, becoming the second member of the progressive group of House lawmakers known as “the Squad” to lose a Democratic primary to a more moderate opponent this year.

Bush, a second-term lawmaker, was bested in the Democratic race for Missouri’s 1st District by St. Louis prosecuting attorney Wesley Bell, who was backed by a major pro-Israel group. The race was the second most expensive House primary in U.S. history, taking a back seat only to the contest earlier this year for Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s Bronx-area seat, according to the group ad impact.

Bell sought to frame Bush as out of touch with her constituents throughout the monthslong race and highlighted the multiple investigations into her campaign finances. But Bush’s criticism of the Israeli government, more than any other factor, came to define the campaign.

TVNL Comment:  This shows the power of AIPAC.  It's outrageous that AIPAC has not beenss forced to register as a foreign agent working for Israel.

Harris' border work was on 'root causes' of migration; she wasn't in charge | Fact check

Kama was not Immigration CzarA July 21 Instagram post (direct link, archive link) by Donald Trump Jr. blames Vice President Kamala Harris for the country's immigration problems.

"She was put in charge of the border and we saw the worst invasion of illegals in our history!!!" reads part of the post, which is a screenshot of a post from X, formerly Twitter.

Similar posts on Threads have described Harris as the Biden administration's "border czar."

The post exaggerates the vice president's role in addressing migration at the southern border. Harris was never put in charge of the border or made "border czar," immigration experts said. President Joe Biden tasked Harris with leading the administration's diplomatic efforts addressing the "root causes" of migration in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. The Instagram post was liked more than 200,000 times in a day.

CNN takes heat for lack of fact checks during Trump, Biden debate

Dana Bash and Jake Tapper

CNN is coming under heavy criticism after two of its top anchors failed to offer real-time fact checks of false statements made by former President Trump and President Biden as they moderated Thursday night’s presidential debate.

During the highly-anticipated and nationally televised clash, both Trump and Biden made a number of misleading or false statements about topics ranging from crime to immigration to the economy.

Moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash on multiple occasions offered follow up questions when a candidate had not used up all of their allotted speaking time or had not answered a question directly.

But neither, however, offered any fact checks to the two men’s assertions during the 90-minute broadcast.

“CNN’s decision to abrogate its journalistic responsibilities by not fact checking Trump’s firehose of lies is unforgivable,” wrote former cable news host Keith Olbermann in one social media post.

Michael Cohen’s family doxed in wake of testimony in Trump criminal trial

Michael Cohen and family doxedDonald Trump’s former fixer Michael Cohen has become the latest target of doxing efforts by supporters of the former president following Trump’s conviction of criminally falsifying business records last week.

According to Advance Democracy, the addresses and phone numbers of Cohen’s wife and children were posted on a website on Monday, days after the non-profit group warned of a high volume of social media posts containing violent rhetoric targeting the New York judge Juan Merchan and the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, each of whom played key roles in Trump’s conviction.
