A "terrified" and visibly emotional Christine Blasey Ford described in vivid detail on Thursday her allegation that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a party in Maryland in 1982.

In front of rapt senators from the Senate Judiciary Committee, Ford explained how Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge took her into a room at the party and how the alleged assault changed the course of her life.

"I believed he was going to rape me,” Ford said. “I believed Brett was going to accidentally kill me."

Subtly addressing questions from some Kavanaugh supporters about why she didn't come forward earlier, Ford recalled that she had told herself she "should just move on" because she was not raped. And questioned by Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Ford said that she was “100 percent” certain that it was Kavanaugh that assaulted her and nobody else.

Russia’s GRU has secretly developed and deployed new malware that’s virtually impossible to eradicate, capable of surviving a complete wipe of a target computer’s hard drive, and allows the Kremlin’s hackers to return again and again.

The malware, uncovered by the European security company ESET, works by rewriting the code flashed into a computer’s UEFI chip, a small slab of silicon on the motherboard that controls the boot and reboot process. Its apparent purpose is to maintain access to a high-value target in the event the operating system gets reinstalled or the hard drive replaced—changes that would normally kick out an intruder.

It’s proof that the hackers known as Fancy Bear “may be even more dangerous than previously thought,” company researchers wrote in a blog post. They’re set to present a paper on the malware at the Blue Hat security conference Thursday.

An audience of world leaders at the United Nations laughed on Tuesday when President Trump boasted of his achievements during his time in office.

"In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than any administration in the history of our country," Trump said, opening his address to the U.N. General Assembly.

Audience members then began chuckling and the laughs grew louder when Trump said "so true."

Trump smiled and paused, then responded: "I didn't expect that reaction but that's OK."

Minnesota state Rep. Jim Knoblach abruptly ended his re-election campaign Friday amid allegations of inappropriate touching from his adult daughter.

Minnesota Public Radio reported the announcement came hours after the St. Cloud Republican's attorney, Susan Gaertner, denied the allegations in an interview with the station. She said the veteran lawmaker "does not want to drag his family through six weeks of hell."

A former Southwest Airlines employee has filed a discrimination lawsuit claiming the airline allowed employees to create a whites-only break room at Houston’s Hobby Airport.

Jamel Parker, who was fired by Southwest last year, says he learned about the so-called “WB” when he started working for the airline in 2013. He claims it existed for years until a recent renovation of Hobby Airport.

Parker’s lawsuit also claims black employees found a noose made of bungee cords at a Southwest gate at Hobby.

His lawsuit alleges black employees are held to a higher standard than their white counterparts.

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is facing criticism for a joke he made about his high school in 2015, amid an allegation that he sexually assaulted a girl when he was a high school student.

"What happens at Georgetown Prep, stays at Georgetown Prep," Kavanaugh joked during a speech at the Catholic University's Columbus School of Law in Washington.

Kavanaugh said three of his good friends from Georgetown Preparatory School, who he remained close with, went to Columbus. He praised the law school for gearing its students to care about the poor and underprivileged and instilling a sense of service, which reminded him of his high school's motto, "Be men for others."

A mummified wolf pup and caribou believed to have walked Earth over 50,000 years ago were discovered with tissue and fur intact — a remarkable find, Canadian authorities say.

The caribou was found at the site of a 80,000-year-old volcanic ash bed and officials believe it's among the oldest mummified mammal tissue in the world, according to a release.

The head, two front limbs and torso of the caribou were intact. The wolf pup was found with a complete body.

Salesforce.com Inc. founder Marc Benioff and his wife Lynne agreed to acquire Time magazine from Meredith Corp. for $190 million in cash, joining Jeff Bezos among tech billionaires buying venerable print publications.

The move thrusts the brash 53-year-old entrepreneur, who helped lead the shift of software to an on-demand model, into a new role: media baron.

It's a transaction reminiscent of Bezos’s $250 million acquisition of the Washington Post in 2013. That purchase brought Bezos a Pulitzer Prize-winning, 140-year-old newspaper but also put him in the cross hairs of President Donald Trump, who has called the Post an “expensive lobbyist” for Amazon.com Inc.
