In March or April 2007, three noncommissioned United States Army officers, including a first sergeant, a platoon sergeant and a senior medic, killed four Iraqi prisoners with pistol shots to the head as the men stood handcuffed and blindfolded beside a Baghdad canal, two of the soldiers said in sworn statements.
Wind Energy Bumps Into Power Grid’s Limits
The dirty secret of clean energy is that while generating it is getting easier, moving it to market is not.
“The windiest sites have not been built, because there is no way to move that electricity from there to the load centers,” he said.
The basic problem is that many transmission lines, and the connections between them, are simply too small for the amount of power companies would like to squeeze through them. The difficulty is most acute for long-distance transmission, but shows up at times even over distances of a few hundred miles.
War With Russia Is On The Agenda
Thinking about the massive failure of the US media to report truthfully is sobering. The United States, bristling with nuclear weapons and pursuing a policy of world hegemony, has a population that is kept in the dark--indeed brainwashed--about the most important and most dangerous events of our time.
The power of the Israel Lobby is an important component of keeping Americans in the dark.
As a result of the US media's one-sided coverage, few Americans are aware that for decades Israel has been ethnically cleansing Palestinians from their homes and lands under protection of America's veto in the United Nations. Instead, the dispossessed Palestinians are portrayed as mindless terrorists who attack innocent Israel.
If one reads Israeli newspapers, such as Haaretz, or publications from Israeli organizations, such as the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions, one gets a radically different view of the situation than the propagandistic version delivered by US media and evangelical pulpits.
Whoops! Top Republican Admits That GOP Is Running "Ministry Of Truth" Against Obama
The GOPer in question is Colorado GOP chairman Dick Wadhams, who accidentally made the admission when describing the GOP's war room in Denver set up to hammer Obama during convention week.
Wadhams described the GOP's outfit thusly to the Denver Post: "Just consider this the Ministry of Truth."
Um, as anybody who has ever read George Orwell knows, the Ministry of Truth exists to disseminate false propaganda about how great the ruling regime is, continuously rewriting both history and the present-day facts in order to maintain total control over the population.
"The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture and the Ministry of Plenty with starvation," Orwell wrote. "These contradictions are not accidental, nor do they result from ordinary hypocrisy; they are deliberate exercises in doublethink."
Strib tells AP: we're canceling
It’s hard to imagine: the Star Tribune without the Associated Press.
But that’s what could happen in 2010; the region’s biggest news source recently sent the nation’s most prominent wire service the required two years' cancellation notice, an AP spokesman confirms.
Earlier this year, Strib editor Nancy Barnes was one of eight big-city newspaper editors who co-signed a letter that criticized AP’s rate structure and urged price cuts. "Editors of newspapers are not getting meaningful help from AP when they need it most,” the letter stated. “They need help now. Without relief from AP, the organization's members must make even more drastic cuts in their own newsroom staffs. Essential coverage is sacrificed."
Why was Cheney's guy in Georgia before the war?
What was a top national security aide to Vice President Dick Cheney doing in Georgia shortly before Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's troops engaged in what became a disastrous fight with South Ossetian rebels -- and then Russian troops?
It was Cheney who visited the Georgian embassy in Washington last week to sign a remembrance book as a demonstration of the administration's support.
And yes, Joseph R. Wood, Cheney's deputy assistant for national security affairs, was in Georgia shortly before the war began.
TvNewsLIES Editor Jesse Richard Interviewed on "One Radio Network"
TvNewsLIES.org's Jesse Richard discusses his recent article "Election Fraud is NOT the Real Problem - The Entire System is Corrupt!", among other things with One Radio Network's Patrick Timpone.
From One Radio Network:
Here's an engaging conversation with Jesse Richards, founder and manager of tvnewslies.org. Mr. Richards is a former AP employee who spends his time researching, writing and commenting on the media, politics, the world and news that never makes to our home. How and who chooses Presidential candidates and Presidents? What are the goals of the power pulling the strings? Are secret societies real? Does the media in fact control public perception? Who is behind Senator Obama? And lots more here to sink your teeth into. Or not.
West Bank settlement construction nearly doubled this year
More than 2,600 housing units are under construction in West Bank settlements, including units in more than 1,000 new buildings, Peace Now contends in its semi-annual report.
The upshot of its latest report, says Peace Now director Yariv Oppenheimer, is that "Israel is erasing the Green Line through intensive construction intended to create territorial continuity between settlement blocs and isolated settlements in the heart of the West Bank, with this construction approaching Palestinian cities such as Bethlehem and Ramallah."
