New research, which reconstructs the extent of ice in the sea between Greenland and Svalbard from the 13th century to the present indicates that there has never been so little sea ice as there is now. The research results from the Niels Bohr Institute, among others, are published in the scientific journal, Climate Dynamics.
ACLU Says Government Used False Confessions
The American Civil Liberties Union yesterday accused the Obama administration of using statements elicited through torture to justify the confinement of a detainee it represents at the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
During U.S. military commission hearings on his case, a judge found that Afghan interrogators threatened to kill Jawad and his family if he did not confess to playing a role in the attack. Jawad then admitted to participating in the attack, wrote the judge, Army Col. Stephen R. Henley.
TVNL Comment: This is how the 9/11 confessions were derived. This is why people signed confessions that they did not even read. This is all part of the 9/11 myth and the exaggeration of the myth of what al Qaeda is.
Washington Post sells access, $25,000+
For $25,000 to $250,000, The Washington Post has offered lobbyists and association executives off-the-record, non-confrontational access to "those powerful few" — Obama administration officials, members of Congress, and — at first — even the paper’s own reporters and editors.
Being a vegetarian can cut your risk of cancer by a half, claim scientists
For some cancers like leukaemia, stomach and bladder cancers the difference was even more striking with up to 45 per cent fewer non-meat eaters contracting the diseases than carnivores.
Dr Naomi Allen, an epidemiologist at Oxford University and co-author of the study, said: "This is strong evidence that vegetarians have lower rates of cancer than meat eaters."

The first in-depth human rights report on the three-week conflict in Gaza said Israel's attacks amounted to war crimes. Amnesty first accused Israel of breaching the laws of war shortly after the fighting ended on January 18.
Nuns in the U.S. Are Facing Scrutiny by the Vatican
The Vatican is quietly conducting two sweeping investigations of American nuns, a development that has startled and dismayed nuns who fear they are the targets of a doctrinal inquisition.
While some nuns say they are grateful that the Vatican is finally paying attention to their dwindling communities, many fear that the real motivation is to reel in American nuns who have reinterpreted their calling for the modern world.
US requires suicide warnings for anti-smoking drugs
US federal drug regulators on Wednesday required manufacturers to warn against the mental health dangers, including suicidal thoughts, of two popular anti-smoking drugs.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ordered Pfizer, which makes Chantix, and GlaxoSmithKline, maker of Zyban, to place a warning highlighting the "risk of serious mental health events" when taking the drugs, including behavior changes, depression, hostility and suicidal thoughts.

The Great Bank Robbery: How the Federal Reserve is destroying America
It usually comes as a shock to people – especially diehard Americans who place infinite trust in their sacred Constitution – when they discover that the US dollar is not a product of the American government. That’s right, fellow consumers, that crumpled wad of dollars in your pocket is the product of the U.S. Federal Reserve, and despite the very official title, is about as “federal” as Federal Express. The reality is that the U.S. Federal Reserve is a profit-making venture just like Wal-Mart, General Motors or McDonald’s.
