This is the crucial question that must be answered before a successful struggle for liberty can be fought and won. If it is shown that the majority of Americans will readily trade their freedoms for a fake carnal security then the cause has already been lost.
Climate change far worse than thought before
Global alarm over climate change and its effects has risen manifold after the 2007 report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate. Since then, many of the 2,500-odd IPCC scientists have found climate change is progressing faster than the worst-case scenario they had predicted.
Their studies will be considered for the next IPCC report, but since that will come out only in 2013, the University of New South Wales in Sydney has just put together the main findings in the last three years.
Iraqi prisoners ‘were sexually humiliated by female British soldier’
Five former detainees have made specific allegations against a female interrogator they knew as “Katy”.
The claims are among 14 new cases brought against a secretive British Army interrogation unit. These bring to 40 the total of pending British court cases by former Iraqi detainees.
Israeli ICTS Connection To Pollard & Schiphol Airport
"ICTS is also linked with Israeli espionage against the United States. An ICTS board member, retired Major General Amos Lapidot, served as commander of the Israeli Air Force and authorized Israeli Air Force Colonel Aviem Sella, operating under official cover at the Israeli Consulate General in New York, and Rafael Eitan, head of LAKAM, an Israeli military technical intelligence gatherer, to accept U.S. Navy intelligence official Jonathan Pollard's offer to spy for Israel."
Solution to killer superbug found in Norway
There is no sign of a dangerous and contagious staph infection that killed tens of thousands of patients in the most sophisticated hospitals of Europe, North America and Asia this year, soaring virtually unchecked. The reason: Norwegians stopped taking so many drugs.
Twenty-five years ago, Norwegians were also losing their lives to this bacteria. But Norway’s public health system fought back with an aggressive program that made it the most infection-free country in the world. A key part of that program was cutting back severely on the use of antibiotics.
The Degrading Effects of Terrorism Fears
This is what inevitably happens to a citizenry that is fed a steady diet of fear and terror for years. It regresses into pure childhood.
The 5-year-old laying awake in bed, frightened by monsters in the closet, who then crawls into his parents' bed to feel Protected and Safe, is the same as a citizenry planted in front of the television, petrified by endless imagery of scary Muslim monsters, who then collectively crawl to Government and demand that they take more power and control in order to keep them Protected and Safe. A citizenry drowning in fear and fixated on Safety to the exclusion of other competing values can only be degraded and depraved.
Official Army history finds Bush admin. ‘hamstrung’ troops in Afghanistan
Contrary to repeated claims that the Iraq war did not deprive Afghan forces of necessary resources, the Army's history shows that the Bush administration "hamstrung" forces in the country, according to The New York Times.
"A Different Kind of War," to be published later this year, was written by seven historians at the Army's Combat Studies Institute. It is the first report of its kind, giving an official stamp on events which transpired between October 2001 and September 2005. The Times obtained the 400-page manuscript and posted it online.
Secret Army squad 'abused Iraqis', UK lawyers claim
A secret Army interrogation squad abused dozens of Iraqi prisoners, a firm of lawyers has claimed. Prisoners were hooded, held in "stress positions", denied sleep and daylight, and told their wives and mothers would be raped, the lawyers allege.
They say the Joint Forward Intelligence Team (JFIT) was not answerable to the Army chain of command.
