NOT GUILTY! BY REASON OF THE PRESIDENCY!
TvNewsLIES.ORG EXPOSES THE VERDICT
The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses. Malcom X
THE CRIME
They were dead wrong on almost all of their prewar judgments! Hey, everyone….they were dead wrong! How about that? It’s late, but it’s official: the hype and the claims and the fanfare about WMD’s were …you guessed it…dead wrong. Knowing it looked bad for the boss, the WMD Commission waited until after the presidential election to actually say it, but now we know for sure: the Bush allegations about Iraq all were wrong, - dead wrong! Come on, it’s no big deal, they say to us. Get over it.
Aw gee, what a bummer, - after all the warnings about nuclear and biological weapons en route to our shores at any moment! Geez, not even a tiny threat from those touted aluminum tubes. What a letdown after all the fear mongering. Not a single mushroom cloud was ever on its way from Baghdad. What the hell. Anyone can be wrong, the say to us. Deal with it.
Look, if the report had been real news, the TV news networks would have picked it up. As it happened, the networks were focused on story of far greater consequence: the Terri Shiavo saga. So, despite its devastating conclusions, the WMD report received minimal, if any media coverage. Iraq is yesterday’s news, they say to us. Understand it.
Most probably, remembering their shamefully sycophantic support for Bush’s War in Iraq, the media breathed a collective sigh of relief. They would never have to question their own complicity in the crime. What’s done is done, they say to us. Live with it.
Uh…one other thing: The Commission that discovered the crime chose not to investigate the criminals! Despite earlier promises to do so, they decided not to report on how George Bush and his warmongering cohorts used the intelligence they were given. They would have nothing to say about the way Bush/PNAC cartel reflected the intelligence information in their presentations to Congress and the public.
As a result, George W. Bush was exonerated of serious violations of Constitutional and International Law without a single day of investigation. Despite a mountain of incriminating evidence, George W. Bush was off the hook. Neither he nor anyone in his administration would be held accountable for taking the nation into an illegal and immoral war under false pretenses.
In effect, George W. Bush was found NOT GUILTY by reason of the Presidency. George Bush, with the tacit cooperation of the media, has successfully transformed the White House into a fortress. At every level it is a protected sphere in which no one may question, no one may challenge, and no one may investigate. By his own fiat, George W. Bush has become untouchable. That’s how it goes, they say to us. Accept it.
Following the attacks of 9/11, Donald Rumsfeld said there weren’t any good targets in Afghanistan, but there were many good targets in Iraq.
Testimony from those who knew there were no WMD’s was summarily ignored, belittled, ridiculed and eventually dismissed. Scott Ritter knew, but no one listened to him. The UN inspectors knew, but went unheeded. And all the while, the media scoffed.
In the lead-up to war, information from a wanted embezzler and a crazy drunkard was offered as credible evidence of Saddam’s WMD threat. Ahmed Chalabi and his alcoholic cousin were key sources of intelligence used by the Bush/PNAC war planners. And all the while, the media bought it and sold it to the nation.
In an effort to sell the war, there were speeches, speeches, and more speeches: Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Powell, and Wolfowitz, declared over and over and over that there was no doubt about the WMD threat of Saddam Hussein. The threat was imminent. The threat was real.
The speeches are on record and show a clear pattern of deception. Not a single one expressed a scintilla of doubt or a possibility of error. There is clear evidence, we were told, that Saddam possessed and was producing chemical and biological weapons. They insisted that he was seeking nuclear weapons and was closely linked to Al Qaida.
Before the invasion, the documents that U.S. and British governments said were strong evidence that Iraq was developing nuclear weapons were dismissed as forgeries by U.N. weapons inspectors.
Before the invasion, the 19 page report used by Colin Powell to support his evidence of WMD’s was discredited and shown to be outdated. The report was lifted, almost word for word, replete with grammatical errors, from a 12 year old paper published during the first Gulf War.
Before the invasion, Colin Powell told the UN Security Council that the Iraqis possessed a drone that could fly 500km, violating UN rules that limit the range of Iraqi weapons to 150km. That claim was discredited by drones expert Ken Munson who said that the craft did not have the capability to fly anywhere near 500 kilometers. Journalists found out that a poorly constructed prototype of the drone could not be controlled from a distance of more than 5 miles, in good weather.
Before the invasion, in speeches to Congress and in public, George Bush and Colin Powell repeatedly pointed to aluminum tubes imported by Iraq which they said were for use in making nuclear weapons. But UN nuclear inspector Mohammad El Baradei told the Security Council that the tubes were not suitable for uranium enrichment as claimed by the US.
Before the invasion, the Bush administration claimed that Mohamed Atta, the alleged ringleader of the September 11th attacks, met with an Iraqi intelligence official in Prague. The meeting was supposedly evidence of Saddam’s link to Al Qaida. Even after the Czech president exposed the accusation as a lie, administration officials continued to bolster their case for war by insisting that the meeting had taken place.
Summation: On March 19, 2003, US and coalition forces invaded Iraq. No member of the corporate media challenged the authority given to the President to wage a preventive war against a sovereign nation. No member of the corporate media investigated the lies and deceptions that led to support for the war.
More than two years later, the war continues. More than 1700 coalition troops have died. Tens of thousands have been wounded. Iraqi civilian deaths mount by nearly 100 every week, and remain officially uncounted, although estimated in the tens of the thousands.
Many Americans believe that the war in Iraq is over. News from embattled areas is sparse and incomplete. The American media do not report casualty totals nor do they show the devastation of life and property suffered by the Iraqi people.
Earlier this year George Bush stated that, despite the absence of WMD’s, the war in Iraq was absolutely worth it.
The prosecution rests.
THE VERDICT
The verdict is in: George W. Bush is NOT GUILTY by reason of the Presidency.
There was no testimony in defense of George Bush and his war machine.
No one is responsible for the lies. No one is accountable for the deceptions. No one will be held to task for the deaths, the wounds, the devastation, the costs or the destabilizing consequences in the region.
George W. Bush beat the system. Congress gave him the power to do as he pleased, and he did. The media hyped his lies and encouraged a frightened and gullible public to support an illegal and immoral war against the people of Iraq.
There were no weapons of mass destruction. There was no Al Qaida connection to Saddam Hussein. There was no threat to the US or any other nation by the sovereign state of Iraq. No matter, they say to us. Justice is in the eye of the beholder. Get used to it.
