Robert F KennedyA lawyer for Robert Kennedy's confessed assassin says he plans to present evidence Sirhan Sirhan did not act alone, ABC News reports. "There is no question he was hypno-programmed," Sirhan lawyer William F. Pepper told ABCNews.com. "He was set up. He was used. He was manipulated." Pepper is representing Sirhan for the first time.

Sirhan, now serving a life sentence, is scheduled to appear before a California parole board Wednesday, marking the 14th appearance before the board since his May 1969 sentencing.

ABC said Pepper plans to introduce new evidence suggesting there was a second gunman who fatally shot Kennedy. The New York senator was killed in the kitchen of a Los Angeles hotel after his victory in the 1968 California presidential primary. A gun was wrestled from Sirhan's hand after the shooting.

Pepper argues, "Ten independent witnesses say Sirhan was always in front of Bobby, never behind him, but the autopsy says Bobby was shot at close range from behind the right ear."

Pepper told ABC he thinks he knows who ordered Sirhan to shoot Kennedy, but won't say who it is -- at least not yet.
