Troy Davis is about to be put to death in what the deceived and the naive refer to as 'the greatest country in the world.' He has issued this statement to those around the world who are horrified by this event::
"The struggle for justice doesn’t end with me. This struggle is for all the Troy Davises who came before me and all the ones who will come after me. I’m in good spirits and I’m prayerful and at peace. But I will not stop fighting until I’ve taken my last breath."
TVNL Comment: There are many people in this country who truly deserve death. Troy Davis is not one of them. Many of these people have the power and authority to end the lives of others, here and abroad. But they go free.
This is a dark day for us all. As Troy Davis states, this is not the first, nor is it the last time that there will not be ‘liberty and justice for all.’ The United States stands alone in the industrialized world in its use of capital punishment, but even more so in its unequal application of a faux form of justice that is as political and hypocritical as it is cruel and inhumane.
I feel like someone without a country today. So, damn, just damn the United States.
